Tis the Season

Tis the season of giving, but who really got the biggest gift? We are fortunate enough to have a heavenly father who gave us the most. Sending his son to suffer and eventually die for us was the best gift anyone could receive. Sure the presents we get are nice, even amazing, that still doesn't mean that we should forget what Christmas is really about. After all, Jesus is the real reason we celebrate the holidays, without him there would be no Birthday worth rejoicing with frankincense and myrrh. He is the candle that lit our way to heaven, the Messiah. Spending time with family is really important too, but we need to treasure the life that came to save ours. He was swaddling in cloths and lying in a manager. There was room in the inn, for the king of the world. As a babe, he was laid in a wooden trough and when he was killed he carried a wooden cross. Spreading his light across the world and living by his example is a way that we can give back to the Lord who sacrificed so much for us. We live in a cruel world where everyone fends for themselves. This new year is coming around rapidly, and with it is new opportunities. Chances for us to show the earth how much he cares about you and me. He called us to be his messengers, and share the good news. Jesus is not dead, he lives in us as a light through the darkness. No matter who you are, whether you are the richest person ever, or just slipping on by. He loves us all the same, he wasn't crucified for the perfect. He was killed so that the sinners, tax collectors, Pharisees, ordinary people like you and me, all of us could be reborn. I hope that everyone has a very Merry Christmas!
